I bought a used TK-730 in a garage sale. When I turned it on, the display showed all the signs were on and the TX looked in black background...? I don't have a clue on what is happening... - T tried also programming it but didn't work.

Thanks ka7wnf !

Well.. the radio doesn't work, actually it does nothing but change to PG mode... and all the characters light up and stay. In addtion the IC108 is not in its socket... Should it still work?
I tried to programming it with a home made KPG-4 ,which works fine with other equip., but the PC shows ERROR... Retry or Cancel?
IT has de KHC3 panel, a X24C04P ic and the jumper between pin 9 and 12 in the rear connector.

Is that the 24 pin socket?

I've seen this happen to TK-730's where the radio's CPU will not boot up due to bad programming/firmware or an issue with the CPU itself. The micro is being held in reset.
If IC108 is the firmware chip (40 pins, left front of the radio topside) and it's missing, the radio will have no firmware and will not boot. You need an FAA EEPROM (single head) to go in that socket before the radio will boot up.

Since I bought it, three weeks ago, It never worked. I think that is a microprocessor problem, buy I don't have a clue on how to fix it. I tried to find more info about the chip or the eqip but I didn't find something related.
Any other help will be apreciated.

You mentioned IC-108 was missing. Is that the 8 pin or the 24 pin IC? If either one is missing it won't work. But it's an easy fix. The 8 pin is the memory chip and the 24 pin is the firmware chip.

IC108 is the 28 pin firmware PROM, which is missing. We have a junked TK-830 in the shop and I checked the socket designation.
IC109 is the X24C04P EEPROM.
Your radio is missing it's firmware; it has no operating code (which would explain why it's brain-dead!)
The chip is usually marked "FAA" for single head radios.
