TK-730 Channel Upgrade

Post by cfd1736 »

How hard is it to upgrade a 32 channel 730 to a 160 channels? Also, how hard is the narrowband upgrade? Thanks.

The 32 to 160 channel upgrade is very easy to do. Just do a search and and you will lots of info. The narrowband mod is another story. Only the G model radios will narrowband.

Ok,
I have found the information that I needed to do the channel upgrade, actually it will only be a 67 channel upgrade until I can get a new control head. The narrowband mod is a kit sold by kenwood to convert a non G model to a G. 55.00 from Kenwood.

I did not know that there was a kit for narrowband. What is the part number? Also I can send you the 160 channel upgrade instructions if you need them. PL

67 channel?! It will have 99 channels with the basic head, and a 2 digit alpha if you put an ic in the head.

By a 67 channel upgrade I was meaning, the 32 original channels plus 67 for a grand total of 99 for the basic head model.

The part number for the narrowband upgrade is zkit-83nb. It lists at 55.00 from Kenwood. From what I am told, it isn't easy to be putting in.

I would like to see a copy of the instructions for the channel upgrade though. If anyone knows where I can find a KCH-4 (full function alpha) control head for the 730 please let me know. Thanks.
