I have a tk-730H 160 channel and a tk-830 160 channel. I have the krk-4db stuff to do the dual band but was wondering if they need different chips in the radio and the head?
Thanks Jeff

Here are the numbers for the EPROMs used in 30 series radios. I have found that the newer versions are the same however. I have checked version JPWD and found that FAA, FAB and FAC are the same.

FAA SINGLE BAND EPROM TK-630 TK-730 TK-830
FAD DUAL HEAD EPROM TK-630 TK-730 TK-830
FAB DUAL BAND RADIO 1 EPROM TK-630 TK-730 TK-830
FAC DUAL BAND RADIO 2 EPROM TK-630 TK-730 TK-830

Besides the different Firmware chips (FAB and FAC), there is also some minor internal modification needed to the decks, mostly soldering a couple jumper wires. It's fairly easy. The hardest part will be finding those chips. I believe they run about $40 each. There was someone who recently posted that they had access to them. Search the recent 30 series posts and you should be able to find the person.

Does any one know where I can find the instructions on how to do all the mods for dual band set up? I just got a Tk-730 with all the krk-4db stuff and it was paired with a tk-830. So I am asuming all I need to do is do the mods and eeprom to my tk-830.
