VX-510 L issues

Hi All:
I have a VX-510 that has a strange issue. It appears the channel selector has gone bad. When a channel is selected the radio will at random switch channels, beeping while it does it.
Obviously a frustrating problem. I'd like to get this fixed, but don't particularly want to pay Vertex a zillion dollars if it's a simple fix. Any advice?
