Swapping heads

I have some FTL-2011 VFH 99 Chan mobiles that are not functioning,(bad PA) and I would like to put the display head on some UHF FTL-7011 radios. One is 32 Chan the other is 4 Chan. I see that the logic boards are different, but has anybody done what I am trying to do by maybe shoving a 99 Chan codeplug in the VHF logic board.
