If the 380b is actually a lowband radio (in reference to the post by n5tbu), the "B" designates it to be a mid-split radio. It goes something like 29-36=a, 36-42=b & 42-50=c

As someone stated on the BatBoard, that vintage of radio requires the standalone EEPROM programmer 70-1000. Any radio shop that was ever a Midland dealer might still have one of these beasts around.

In fact, my shop has one (70-1000) but we do not do any work for outside agencies anymore :-?

If you find someone who can burn the EEPROMs for you, they would not need the radio at all unless the new freq(s) are not close to the original.
The EEPROM has to be erased before your new file can be loaded.

The VCOs on these things are tight. A total alignment is necessary if you are making any big move in freq.

Thanks for clearing that up!
I have not worked with any Midland stuff for about 10 years... My memory of them is a bit faded...
