GE MTL problem
I have some GE MTL portables comb # PAHCMX and have not been able to read or program them. I'm using MPA 11.1 software for dos and a MPD programming cable. When I try and read it it says invalid radio type. Is there some other software to use with these radios? Is there some difference between the MPA MPD MTL cables? Thanks for your help.
Yes you need to use the software called MPA-MTL it should have in the setup screen first; all the versions of the MPA and the last selection would be for a MTL radio if your software does not specifically have a selection for an MTL then it will not work. I don't remember the actual software rev but it seems to me it was something like MPA version 12 that supported the MTL. I can check later and re post the exact version needed.

I finally had time to check my software and I ran MPA version 11.1 and it does support the MTL radio so now I'm not sure of your problem; however, I don't have a VHF MTL to check it on so I can't say 100% that is reads a radio.
The next question is if your radio really is a VHF MTL, maybe it is a ge-net900 MTL or something similar with a incorrect case that claims it is a VHF mtl, I have seen these things before.
Also you could have a bad UDC transistor in which it will not allow programming, a quick test is to see if it is the UDC transistor is to hook up a speaker mic and see if it works, if not then the UDC transistor is bad and needs to be replaced prior to programming.
In any case version 11.1 should work on an conventional MTL.
