ALLEGRA RADIO, PLACING IN PROGRAMMING MODE AND TIPS !!

Post by IBSCOTTISH »

I have a ALLEGRA portable radio, cable and software. I am looking for tips and clues for programming it. Especially about the personality and having it access my local system. I have all frequencies. What else MUST I have to get ONLINE?. Also, I cannot get the radio out of "TEST 1" and the keys are inoperable. I have a programmer on the way, but in the meantime I was wondering if there is ANY OTHER way to get it out of this..

I would appreciate any help.

thanks,

Bob

Hello...
Seems there is not anyone on the board who is familiar with that radio. I myself have heard of it, but never have seen one. Does it look like a cell phone & actually just meant to be used for interconnect calls???

Radio may display "TEST 1" because it truly is the name of the talkgroup. Not an uncommon name for a talkgroup used by an Agency to test out a new radio system.

Here is the only help I can offer:
*************************************************************
CREATE A NEW PERSONALITY:

Step 1 - Select a radio type and band split
Step 2 - Create the conventional frequency sets required
Step 3 - Create the trunked frequency sets required
Step 4 - Create the trunked group sets required
Step 5 - Create the individual call sets required (radio type dependent)
Step 6 - Create the phone call sets required (radio type dependent)
Step 7 - Create special call sets required (radio type dependent)
Step 8 - Create the systems required
Step 9 - Define all the option controls for the radio type
Step 10 - Save the personality!

PROGRAMMING THE ALLEGRA:

. Install cables and equipment as described in the Hook-Up The Interface Module To Computer section and the Install The Allegra Programming Cable section.
2. Start with the radio turned OFF. DO NOT turn the radio on.

To download a personality:

1. A personality cannot be downloaded to the radio unless the systems, sets and options have been defined. See Creating a New Personality.

2. Using ProGrammer, open the desired personality.

3. Select the Radio menu and then Program, or select the from the toolbar. When ProGrammer initiates communication with the radio, the radio will enter the programming mode. This may take several seconds.

4. Unless there is a communication problem, the personality will be downloaded to the radio and ProGrammer will provide an indication of the progress.

To read a personality out of the radio:

1. Using ProGrammer, select the Radio menu and then Read, or select from the toolbar.

2. Select the type of radio ProGrammer will read from.

3. Click OK or press ENTER. When ProGrammer initiates communication with the radio, the radio will enter the programming mode. This may take several seconds.

4. Unless there is a communication problem, the personality will be read from the radio and ProGrammer will provide an indication of the progress.

Good luck... PM me if you need more info.
