I will be getting a 35-50 split Orion remote mount hi-power. I am getting a programming cable from Price Industries. I have software for programming but know jack sh*t about these radios other than they look nice.
Anyone got any tips for me regarding anything to do with this radio. I will be using it for ham 6M only.
Thanks
Jason

SAVE SAVE SAVE THE ENCRYPTION DATA!!!
Also save the BIN, TRK and ADI files!
It will save you several hundred headaches in the future if something goes wrong. Try to read the radio with DOS first. If it doesn't work, then go to Programmer in windows and copy all of the above files and save them somewhere else. Then you can play with it in DOS by writing to it without reading it. If something goes wrong, you can recover it with windows Programmer with those saved files. I like the layout of windows, but it will NOT let you program it out of band. The DOS will let you program out of band, but once it has been programmed with windows, it's a pain to program it with DOS again...whew... Coffee buzzz...

I too was looking at one of those on E-Bay. The only thing is, I only have one control head. I don't mind taking the one off of the VHF, but I'd like to have a remote mount for the Low Band.
