TK-350 "remote head" modification?
First off, I have a very good reason to want to do this (
). With that out of the way, here goes. I am trying to remotely (app. 15-20 feet) mount the entire top panel (display, display µ-processor, etc...), as well as the PTT and "light" buttons (from the side of the radio), and the channel selecter, of a TK-350. I have actually hooked everything up, using a standard CAT 5 network cable, and it won't work. Radio won't even power up. If I attach a top panel "locally" while the "remote" panel is also attached, the "local" panel will power on, while the "remote" panel stays blank. My remotely mounted PTT and light buttons will work, but the radio does strange things when keyed up that way. RF in the control cable, maybe? What do y'all think is going on here, and what can I do to correct it?

I thought I made that quite clear in the post (
, ie. I am crazy!) Seriously, though, it is for a project I am working on. I have (succesfully) replaced the original RF board in a Motorola PAC RT with a TK-350. I would like to make it "remotely controlable" so that the channel can be changed from the "operator's position", as well as being able to compleately reprogram the radio. Does it make a little more sense now?
