S850, no backlights at all

I have an S850 ericsson head for my rangr that has not backlights at all. The ligts on the butts come on when pushed to indicate options but the overall lighting behind them and the display is out.

Is there a known issue or area to concentrate on?

if you can keep Jack away from the control cable it might help

I should have know that little bastard would have gotten to it but he was quiet and sly.

It just slowly lit up while I happened to be staring at it.
