TK2180 2 Tone Decode

Post by SeanS »

I have a TK2180 that I have setup to receive QC 2 tones from the local FD. It receives the tones and does the alert fine. However Iam hearing all traffic with the same PL tone on the frequency. Question is how do I set this up not to open until only the FD's tones activate? I must be missing something in KPG89D. I have a TK2140 with the same tones and it stays muted until the proper tones come over.

It's probably like the TK 260, look for "optional features", and then "signaling", change the signaling from"or" to "and". This should resolve your problem.

I listen to all traffic on my channel and also get alerted when tones go over. Thusly, I'm not 100% sure but I think what you're looking for is in the Zone Edit screen. "Audio Control" feature sounds like it may be what you're after. Check into that and please let me know if that does what you want.

You can do one of two things. First option is to change the signalling to "And". However, if you have it setup like I do where you have a paging channel where you don't want to hear all the traffic (for at night) and a channel where you want it to alert but you want to listen to all the traffic on the channel the "And" signalling doesn't work so what I did and your second option is to change the PL or DPL on that channel to something that isn't used for that channel and leave the signalling at "Or" that way the radio will look for the wrong PL or the two-tone. Hope this helps.

Ok its in the zone edit screen. Found the problem it was set to QT/DQT by default, so that explains why it was hearing everyone else. Its now set to QT/DQT And Optional Signalling.

Thanks to all for your help.
