TK-790 Remote Head

Post by jsikora »

I have some TK790 units. These are brand new in the box units. Neither unit had control heads. These were ordered for a customer with a dual band radio setup. The customer wanted uhf iunstead....so after 10 years in the attic I pulled them out. I found a front cover, remote cable and control head.

The control head, cable appear to work fine as if I hook them to my dual band everything is ducky. The nose piece I have also appears to work on my uhf radio.

My problem is the VHF radio will not turn on with all this equipment. Is there missing jumpers or something in these. I have a service manual for the 690 and 890 but not the 790 or the remote head kit. I assume most of the parts are the same. Unfortanetly I am misssing one small jumper cable that puts the control head back on the radio.

Any help would be great. My gopal is to make this a dual head unit, but want to make it work first.

I found a service bulletin that refers to adding a jumper and removing a transistor and some resistors if the radio is used as radio 2 in a dual band setup. Perhaps it needs to be modded back to it's original configuration. Unfortunately I don't have the KRK7DB manual. I can email you what I have. Peter.

I was figuring about the same thing. I have searched for the manual, and may have to order one. I found another srn on the mods. I'll have to look it over tonight.
