Not too familar with Kenwoods but...
Looking at doing a lowband 690. Does the stock head allow future dual radio setups, or will another head have to be ordered?
We are looking at getting a 690 now, and at some point adding a 2nd lowband or a VHF radio in the trucks.

690 Dual radio
From the Federal Signal Price Book:
"Warning: Sirens and Speakers may produce LOUD sounds necessary to request the right-of-way."
Really...You think?

Looking at the spec sheet on Kenwood's site again, which anyone can get to, it appears the regular head can be used. I would imagine the kit contain some type of circuit to allow both drawers to work together with the head without zapping each other.
As for price, call your local Kenwood dealer. You should be able to find one off of Kenwood's site.

The answer you are looking for is YES. Not sure on pricing, but either the standard or advanced control heads for the x90 series radios in the remote mount will do dual band. But whatever head you have on the 690 now... you should set the VHF radio to have the same control head as well.Pj wrote:Ok. The question the chief had for me is, will the stock head that come with the radio work, and what does the kit contain? Rought street price?
I'll show you tonight how the dual band setup is done through programming on the x90 series.
Also.. not sure if you've gotten prices but the last time I priced out a dual band single (advanced) control head with DTMF mic for Lowband and UHF it was in the $2000 range or so.
