I have recently purchased 6 used TK-390 UHF Portable radios. When I received them, I found that the channel selector was locked to only allow channel 1 and channel 2. Does anyone know if this is a factory issue, or something I can overcome with a little work?

Pull the channel selector knob straight off the radio. For the next step I have used needle nose pliers. There is a small round nut with two notches in it that is threaded onto the channel selector knob. Unthread that, next you will see the washer with the little notch that sticks up. Take that puppy out or move it to where you need it. I believe you can only move it in incements of two. Put that nut back on and you are all set!
