TK-805D wiring help

Post by RZMike »

Just got a TK-805D, figured out how to program it, and fixing to mount it in my vehicle. It's quite obvious as to the power wires and antenna, but there's another group of smaller wires that I'm not sure of. They are bunched together with a plastc six pin connector at the end. There's a bunch of colors (blue, green, red, orange, black, purple, white, yellow). The previous owner cut the blue and green wires for some reason

I've searched the forum but can't find any reference to these. Can someone tell me what they're for? Or better yet a link to a diagram :D

I don't think they came that way. probably someone added wires for a modem, avl, etc. Take the cover off and see where they go. PL

I'll pop the cover off and see if I can tell where they go. Looks like a factory thing to me, but I'm no expert. I'll also try and take a pic and post it.

I finally opened the unit up to see what the wires go to. I'm not knowledgeable enough to figure it out. Maybe someone here can tell me.

Those aren't factory installed, someone added them for some type of accessory. If the radio is working normally then just ignore them. Although it wouldn't hurt to insulate them with some tape or even remove them entirely. PL

Yes, that's definitely a hack, and not a standard Kenwood connector. You should be able to remove them without any problem.
