Does anybody know how to make it so you can listen to radio traffic and still have 2 tone decode? I know on some kenwoods you have an option of and or. I know on the vertex you can choose on or off duty. Also does any pody know how to field progam the tk-2170??

You can listen to traffic and still have two-tone decode if you set the channel for optional 2-tone signalling, but you set the signalling for the group to "OR."

In other words, it will unmute traffic on CG decode, but will also sound a beep tone when it gets a two-tone activation. The "AND" setting requires the radio to have a matching CG AND a matching two-tone and will not unmute unless you get the two-tone.

I don't know how to field program the TK-2170 though.

It's usually listed under "Optional Signalling Decode Condition." It should either be under either "Zone Edit" or "Group Edit."

I don't have the TK-2170 programming software in front of me, so I can't tell you exactly where it is in this particular program. If you poke around enough, you should be able to find it.
