2 tone decode

Post by gtfd236 »

I am trying to setup a kenwood tk-272 for 2 tone. My tones are 1063.2 & 1321.2 for squad. If we have a fire the drop 457.9 & 1063.2. If I put the tones in the software as a tone as 1063.2 and b tone as 1321.2 and c tone as 457.9 what for mat do i use? Any help? I am also having trouble with tk-2170 not decoding the tones.

After checking the KPG 56 V4 software, it looks like the TK 272 is only going to allow 1 pair of tones to be decoded. You would select A-B format. The C tone can not be used for a second pair of tones. It is used as a group call where a single 8 second tone is sent. I have the same issue with some TK 260's. I had to program the primary tone pair in, and forget the rest. Make sure signalling is set to "AND" if you want the radio to remain silent until a page is sent.
Hope this helps,

I have guys on both the VFD and Ambulance and it would sure be nice to have both in there. Generally in our case the ambulance wins, because they work off a more limited number of personnel
I don't know much about 2-way radios but I'm over 50 and can't remember not having one around. Everything from Buddy and Citi-fone to Icom and Kenwood.
