tk-630/730/830 help

Post by kg6ziu »

I seem to have a problem. I have a tk-630, as well as a -730/830 dual band setup. Both of them do the same thing-blinking all segments upon powerup and then goes to "group 1 Channel 1" and blinks that along with the aux indicator. It will go into program mode just fine, though I can't read the radio's they just say error...

What's up with them???

Thanks,
Phil KG6ZIU

So is this a new problem? Did the radios ever work or are these radios something you just picked up and are trying to get working? It sounds like missing or incompatible EEPROMS that hold the memory. Peter.

I believe they all worked at 1 time. Perhaps I need the correct eeproms-where to get?

Thanks,

Did they ever work for you is what I meant. Open the radio decks and heads and look for the 8 pin socketed EEPROMS. Should be 24C04 for the 32 channel or 24C16 for the 160 channel units. They have to match between deck and head. Also do a search here regarding the little 0 ohm SMD resistors that may or may not need to be removed.

Yes they all did work for me at 1 time. It must be the EEPROMS, as that is the only thing I have changed. I will check the SMD's as well.
