Just program my radio with different freq and only four show on the display. Any idea what i did wrong ?
Lou
MRK scan
MRK Scan
The programer I have is EDACS 4, the split on the radio is 403-430 mhz.
I'll try to program into the radio more than six channels with different freq under four different names.
All the freq are within the above band plan. The radio shows that its takes the program but when i check to see each channel by turning the knob it shows that the freq one repeats into the channel slots of 2, 3, 4 & 5 and jumps to channel 4 showing it programed into channel 6 slot.
And I checked the radio by reading it back and it shows all the freq are in the right channels.
I am losing my hair on this, also is there any way of getting the radio to be program out of band?
Thanks

I am newer to actually playing with the MRK , but under the settings, look at the MRK KNOB assignment section, deals with group, system and channel assignments and could be causing what you describe. See if its showing the scheme you describe. If so just change it to reflect 1,2,3 etc
As to the out of band question, the techs have taken them up a few notches, but will not work in the UHF Ham Band

Re: MRK Scan
There is no published method known that will allow out-of-band freq entries using EDACS4 (Windows ProGrammer).Luis1972 wrote:is there any way of getting the radio to be program out of band?
As for the knob assignment, you can use the knob for systems or groups (channels). The LPE200 I carry for work is similiar in that respect. I use the knob for systems & the up/down arrows for groups (channels for conventional use). If you use the knob for groups you are limited to a total of 16 max, that is the best reason to use it for system selection instead......

I have a hex edited freq set I use to program the weather servicen_zero_ndp wrote:

channels into my M-RK 150-174 that now thinks it's a 136-160 radio. Edacs 3 will program it in fine but I tried it with Pro Grammer (edacs4) and the program complains about the freqs and bandsplit and refuses to put them in.
Before you ask, no I have not taken the time to completly reverse engineer the freq info in the codeplug but I can take a saved freq and shift it up 8 mhz by changing one byte. I have tested this on a RX only basis.
If anyone wants a copy of this freq set email me

Lou,
If you wish, you can email me the codeplug and I'll take a look at it. It could be that the channels just aren't assined to the propper channel, but I'd have to look.
As for out of band, M/A Com is holding out on us. They told me that the Orions can be taken out of band with any version of software, including EDACS 4 (Windows), BUT... They couldn't release how it's done until the Orion was out of production. Well, that day is here isn't it?
Come on M/A Com, you proved your point. Let us in on the big secret. I could never get anything I had to go OOB...

I dont have an Orion but this info may be relevent It is some of what I learned working with my M-rk. The codeplug hex values are calculated from the base freq and step up by 31250hz steps if smaller steps are needed there is a byte that steps in 100hz increments. So this means you can go up in freq by adding steps to the base and putting the info in the appropiate location in the file for the channel number you want. Since it is calculated up from the base freq you cant go down. I haven't worked all this out completly but it looks promising. I do have a freq set that allows 162.XX weather channels in a 136-160 M-RK.
