TK-730 channel capacity?

Post by snowrx »

I got a couple TK-730's. How would I find out if they had any more than the normal 32 channel capacity? Are there IC numbers to look for or is there something in the programming software I missed? The software seems to give me a model mismatch warning no matter what model I choose. I have 1 TK-730(G) and 1 TK-730 w/ the KCH-4

READ THE RADIO. You shouldn't just try to write something to it by guessing the model. If you read it, it will choose what model it is on it's own.

Pop the cover off and look for an 8 pin socketed dip package EEPROM. If its a 24c04 you have a 32 channel radio. If its a 24c16 you have a 160 channel radio. You should always read a read first and save the info so you know what the radio is and have something to fall back on if it gets screwed up.

Thanks for the information, looks like I've a couple plain 32 ch radios. I did read the radio first, but it had been wiped of frequencies and I did/do not know the format it displayed the model info. I assume, now that it's too late, that the model is displayed in the upper right. Oh well, back to DOS....
