tk-3160 communication error

Post by soundtech »

Hi all,
I have not been able to get the software to communicate to the radio. I've un-plugged and re-plugged, restarted computer, disabled any programs that could share the com port. Don't know what else to do.

I have the KPG-82D software and the RPG-22 cable (after market)
Running win xp pro.

Thanks,
Caine

Sometimes the plastic on aftermarket or even Kenwood amateur cables does not let the male ends enter the radio far enough. It usually only is a problem on the UHF model.
This sounds goofy but a way to test for this is to spit on the male plug before you plug it into the radio and see if it works. If you try to cut down the plastic be very careful because there isn't much plastic to cut down.

The cable works fine on the TK-360. No problems at all.

Un-frickin-believable.
Just after I replied to n5tbu, I tried spitting and it worked :o

Thanks a bundle..

Well--I said it was goofy; but I saw it work too. Only the UHF models have the problem as far as I know.
:x (Just don't lend out your cable to those with trenchmouth)
