TK-790 RX problem
Ok it finally caught up to me, i have several radios in my truck, some for ham, other for commercial and fire stuff. the other day i tried to talk with one of the chiefs on my VHF fire radio (tk-790) i heard nothing. i also hve a 2 meter ham rig in there to the antennas are about 8-10" apart on the roof of the truck. i think i have over loaded the reciever of the TK-790, it transmitts fine (the chief heard me as usual) but the recieve is minimul. i have gone throught the service manual for the 790 i think it is the switching diodes on the final board, the diodes on the BPF seemed ok, and when i plug an antenna in the recieve board socket the radio seems to recieve correctly. i dont have my new signal generator yet so i cant check it properly. any ideas? thanks jim
Re: TK-790 RX problem
I think you have your antennas too close. I try to keep 1/4 wavelength between antennas minimum. I've got a 790H I use with my D710 and I've hafd no ill effects with either at ths distance.
Did you get a chance to find the problem?

Re: TK-790 RX problem
it is defently no question that i ahve too many antennas to close. but at the time i needed all of them. plus a couple of them where dual band with duplexers so two radio could use one anetnna. but now i am in the middle of down sizing everything, since i no longer need all of that. it with be 1 triband antenna w/ triplexer for there of the four radios, and one single antenna for 900 MHz. thanks for the reply. oh i think it is the switching diodes, i am going to order some today.
