TK630H power-up problems

Post by n_zero_ndp »

Hello all...

I have a TK630H remote mount that seems to be powering up, but has no
display or backlighting on the head (I get the power up beep - no
other functions). I have tried a basic & full feature control head &
2 different control cables with the same results.

I don't have a clue because I already have a 730 hooked up the same
way (I think) & it works fine.

Maybe this 630 is set up to require something different on the 15 pin
accessory connector on the XCVR or the 6 pin accy connector on the
control head???

Maybe someone can provide the pinout for both accy connectors.
Thanks in advance for any info!

I have been working wth these radios for 7 years and this is a common problem that occurs when the main control board is ruined. If you open up the top cover you notice a big black chip. It contains many digital parts and this chip may never be fixed. The majority of the time it is this chip tht must be replaced. Other times there could a bad contact with the plug that comes out of teh radio and joins with the control head. Sometimes there is a resistance that is burned and you must replace it. Email or im directly. I can help you out a little more.

I was afraid something was toasted in there... I used to have access to a manual for it, but not now (of course since I need it).
Probably have to take it to the local dealer now... OUCH! :eeek:

Thanks for the reply.

Local kenwood guru found my radio was setup with some weird option - it's not broke after all. I will pass on the details when I get them...
