First of all, welcome! Always glad to have more folks here.

As has been mentioned before, you can use any version of M-RK software to program it. There's a DOS and Windows (Programmer version). You can use either to write to the radio; M/A Com's radios and software are backwards compatible when writing to the radio. However, to read the radio, you'll need the version of software that wrote it or newer.

The software is always obtainable from M/A Com. The current version of Programmer is in the teens (13, 14?). It will program *ALL* of M/A Com's current radios. Last I heard, it was running about $250. However, M/A Com's not as picky as, say Motorola, about software, and earlier versions - especially DOS - are floating around for free or next to nothing.

Cables can also be bought from M/A Com. There are also aftermarket sources. I use ones from Price Industries (http://www.priceindustries.com), and have yet to have a problem.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more.
